Preparing for Interior Painting

  1. Choose Color: Select the desired color, preferably using Sherwin-Williams coatings, but other options can be matched as well.

  2. Clear the Room: Remove furniture and appliances from the room. Items that can't be removed should be placed at least 6 feet away from any wall, preferably in the center of the room.

  3. Remove Wall Hangings: Take down anything hanging on the walls or ceiling. Electrical fixtures, switches, and outlet covers will be removed by the painting team.

  4. Clean Surfaces: Dust and wipe down walls and trim to ensure a clean painting surface.

  5. Inspect for Imperfections: Look for any imperfections on the walls or trim and communicate them to the project lead for repair.

  6. Provide Easy Access: Ensure easy access to the room from the nearest entry point for the painting crew.

  7. Protect Floors: Cover floors in paths where the painters will be working. Drop cloths may be provided for this purpose.

  8. Secure Pets: Make arrangements to keep pets away from the rooms being painted for their safety and to prevent any interference with the painting process.

  9. Ensure Access to Utilities: Make sure there is access to water and power for the painting equipment.

  10. Relax: While the painting team handles the job, take the opportunity to relax with a good book or remote control.
