Preparing for Cabinet Painting

1. Clear Out Cabinets: Remove all items from the cabinets to prepare them for painting.

2. Clear Countertops: Remove appliances, utensils, and decorations from countertops to allow for painting.

3. Clear Access: Remove any additional furniture or appliances that may obstruct access to the cabinets. Assistance can be provided for moving refrigerators and stoves, while installed microwaves are typically worked around.

4. Clean Surfaces: Dust and wipe down cabinets and countertops to ensure they are clean before painting.

5. Easy Access: Ensure easy access to the area from the nearest entry point for the painting team.

6. Floor Protection: Cover floors leading from the entry to the project area to protect them from paint splatter. Drop cloths can be provided in most instances.

7. Color Selection: Choose the desired color for the cabinets, preferably using Sherwin-Williams coatings, but other options can be matched as well.

8. Hardware Replacement: If replacing hardware, ensure it is chosen and available on-site for installation.

9. Communication: Address any questions or concerns regarding the schedule, finished appearance, or product at least 1 week prior to starting the project.

10. Inspect for Imperfections: Inspect cabinets for any imperfections and communicate them to the project lead for repair.

11. Prepare for Downtime: Be prepared for the area to be unusable for 3-5 days during the painting process.

Following these steps will help ensure a smooth and successful cabinet painting project.
